Naturum Vänerskärgården – Victoriahuset (Victoriahouse)

  •  The group is divided in two smaller groups, one starts with a guided tour at the castle, the other with a visit at Victoriahouse.

Victoria house is located at Läckö Castle, right by Lake Vänern. Inside and outside the house, you encounter Vänern Archipelago . The exhibition will inspire you to cruise around among the islands with different themes.

In the inviting and inspiring exhibition you can tack between the islands of diverse themes, just as you can tack through the archipelagos in Lake Vänern. You can listen, feel and hear about the the effects of the Ice Age, about pine forests, meadows and much more. Guided tours through and around naturum are offered, as well as educational programmes for school groups. Interesting books and magazines are to be found in the reading corner by the open fire, and along the length of the waterside runs the wonderful sun terrace. Here you are one with nature.

Naturum Vänerskärgården – Victoriahuset

Our naturum lies right on the banks of Lake Vänern. Vänern is the EU’s largest lake and boasts Europe’s largest freshwater archipelago. In the middle of Lake Vänern lies the Djurö archipelago, which was designated a National Park in 1991. The naturum Vänerskärgården – Victoriahuset is considered a bridge out to the Djurö National Park and to other Nature Reserves around Lake Vänern’s archipelago.

There are several more events and activities at or starting from naturum Vänerskärgården – Victoriahuset: boating expeditions, rock pool fishing, bird safaris, talks and walks. Not just in the summer, but also autumn, winter and spring.

School Programme

At the naturum Vänerskärgården – Victoriahuset, we welcome school parties. The exhibition in the naturum and proximity to the lakeside creates the perfect environment to learn about Lake Vänern’s archipelago and its inhabitants. We have a varied school programme suited to all ages. On your visit you will be met by naturum tutor Sofia Wennberg. She is a doctor of palaeobiology and has extensive knowledge on the history of the earth and evolution. In addition she has a good eye for aquatic bugs.
